General Auction Rules

St. Mary's Catholic School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  The amount you pay above the Fair Market value estimate may be tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.

By bidding in the Silent or Live Auction, each bidder agrees to the following rules:

ê       Each guest will receive a bid number at the time of registration.  This bid number is your identification; please keep it with you throughout the evening.

ê       ALL SALES ARE FINAL and there will be no refunds or exchanges.

ê       ALL ITEMS ARE SOLD “AS IS” The St. Mary's Catholic School Auction Committee has attempted to describe and catalog all items correctly.  The school neither warrants nor represents and in no event shall be held responsible for the accuracy of descriptions in terms of authenticity, authorship, or condition of the items.  No statement made verbally shall be deemed such as warranty, representation, or assumption of liability.

ê       St. Mary's Catholic School reserves the right to add or withdraw items from the auction without prior notice.

ê       Unless otherwise noted.  ALL AUCTION CERTIFICATES MUST BE CLAIMED AND USED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF AUCTION DATE.

ê       Each guest bidding assumes all risks and hazards related to the Auction and item(s) purchased at the Auction.  Each bidder agrees to save and hold harmless St. Mary's Catholic School from and against any claim, debt, or liability arising directly or indirectly from the Auction or any item purchased at the Auction.  For purposes of this agreement, St. Mary's Catholic School includes the school itself, its elected and appointed officials, its directors, members and employees, the Auctioneer(s) and its agents and employees, and the St. Mary’s Auction Committee including the event organizers, sponsors and/or volunteers connected with the St. Mary's Catholic School Auction.

ê       It is the responsibility of the purchaser to contact the donor for services and/or merchandise purchased.  DO NOT ask donors to make substitutions, cash refunds, or changes in any auction item.  Trip dates and travel arrangements may not be changed.

ê       At the time of checkout, you will be given an invoice of those items you have purchased.  After reviewing the invoice and upon your approval, you will proceed to a cashier for payment and then to the pickup area for your items.

ê       Items and gift certificates may be picked up only by showing a “paid” receipt, obtained from the cashier, to the pickup area attendant.  Items and gift certificates then become the bidder’s responsibility.

ê       PLEASE DEPOSIT YOUR BID CARDS IN THE BOX WHEN YOU COMPLETE YOUR TRANSACTIONS WITH THE CASHIER

ê       St. Mary's Catholic School would like to thank all the businesses and individuals who have donated items to our auction.  All donors are listed under the description of the item in the catalog.

Thank you for your support!

Live & Silent Auction Rules

ê       The values set forth for items auctioned are the donor’s estimates and are not warranted by the auction committee or St. Mary's for tax purposes or Fair Market Value.  Items have not been appraised unless so noted.

SILENT AUCTION RULES

1.       Items offered in the Silent Auction will have bid sheets with pre-determined bid amounts.  To bid, write your bid number on the bid sheet opposite the amount that you wish to bid.

2.       You may skip ahead on the bid sheet; however, you may not write in an intermediate bid amount.  The next bidder must bid the higher amount to purchase the item.

3.       Silent Auction Guaranteed Bid: The first bidder to sign for the “Guaranteed Bid” of any Silent Auction Item becomes the guaranteed purchaser and that item is closed to further bids.

4.       You may bid on any item in the Silent Auction until that table is closed.  Bidding for items in the Silent Auction will close at the time specified in the front of this catalog, with the exact closing moment announced over the PA system by our emcee.  A Silent Auction official will circle the highest bid for each item.  Please step away from the table and do not continue to bid.

5.       If an entry is not legible, the next legible entry will be acknowledged.

LIVE AUCTION RULES

1.       You may preview items when the doors to the main room open.  Please examine the items noting any restrictions, limitations, or size.

2.       To enter a bid in the Live Auction, hold your bid card HIGH so either the Auctioneer or one of the bid spotters can easily see the number.  A bid acknowledged by the auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase that item.

3.       A volunteer will present the successful bidder with a bid sheet to sign.  This will be your legal contract to purchase that item.  Please verify that the bid number, amount, and item description are correct.  The bid sheet will be placed in your file with the Auction Cashier until you settle your account.

4.       In the event of a dispute between bidders, the Auctioneer shall have sole and final discretion to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer the item in dispute.
